About

What is Life Science Across the Globe?

Welcome to Life Science Across the Globe, a virtual series that brings together scientists and scholars around the world.

Borne out of the global disruption of COVID-19, Life Science Across the Globe was first launched in July 2020 by Howard Hughes Medical Institute’s Janelia Research Campus along with seven other partnering sister institutes listed below. The original weekly series featured a science talk paired with a science culture talk (archived talks can be found here).

Recognizing the continued need for international science communication, the eight sister institutes now offer a reimagined Life Science Across the Globe series. Each month, we identify an important science or science culture theme and bring together two or three speakers from different parts of the world to present their work or thoughts on that theme. The talks, which are aimed at a broad audience, are followed by a moderated panel discussion and audience questions.

We encourage you to participate in the live event, but each event will also be recorded and available on the Janelia YouTube Channel

Each month, Life Science Across the Globe allows you to learn about scientific and societal topics of global importance, meet the world’s most creative scientists and scholars, and appreciate that science is a shared global effort.  Please join us.
